Bangladesh Independence Day observed in New Delhi

​The 44th anniversary of Bangladesh Independence and National Day was observed in Bangladesh High Commission, New Delhi in a befitting manner. The days programme began with hoisting of the National Flag at the Chancery by High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali.

A special prayer (munazat) was offered for peace and salvation of the martyrs of Independence. Messages of President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were read out.

​A grand reception in the evening took place at the mission premises to celebrate the Bangladesh Independence and National Day. The chief guest of the programme was Union Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd) V. K. Singh, who attended the programme on behalf of the Indian government.

About 2000 diplomats, bureaucrats, government officers, senior journalists, eminent columnists, business community members, Bangladesh community in New Delhi and friends of Bangladesh attended the reception. National anthems of Bangladesh and India were played by the teams of Bangladesh Armed Forces.

​To mark the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh special supplements were published in two Indian leading newspapers –The Times of India and The Anandabazaar Patrika respectively.

​The prominent monthly magazine “Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Diplomatist” published 40 pages special supplement on Bangladesh in which it published messages of President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

​A number of articles were also published in the magazine. Those include-
