The Shaheed Dibash and the International Mother Language Day 2015 was observed by Bangladesh Missions abroad with due solemnity.
The Day’s programmes started in the morning with hoisting of the national flag at half-mast with the national anthem followed by recitation from the holy Qur’an and holy books of other religions. One minute’s silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the Language Movement.
Special prayers were conducted seeking salvation of the departed souls of the martyrs and for the prosperity of Bangladesh and well being of its citizens. Messages of the Hon’ble President, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out. Several members of the community participated in the discussion enthusiastically.
They highlighted the importance of the day and its significance in the history of liberation of Bangladesh and paid their homage to the martyrs of 21 February 1952.
The discussion meetings were followed by cultural programmes and performed by the Embassy officials and others. Posters on the day were exhibited and documentary films were screened.
