One of the four pillars of BASIS’ One Bangladesh vision to create 1 million IT professionals within 2018 is in its right track. As a part of this, BASIS trainings will be spread throughout the country. BASIS training programs are going to be started in seven divisions of the country in addition to Dhaka.
BASIS will train and employ 23000 IT professionals free of cost within the next three years by this training program. The training will be given to create Skilled IT professionals under Skill for Employment Investment Program (SEIP), a project of the Ministry of Finance.
BASIS President Mr. Shameem Ahsan said this at a “Meet the Press” Conference at BASIS Board Room. Mr. Jalal Ahmed, Additional Secretary and SDCMU of Finance Division and National Project Director of SEIP project, Mr. Abdur Rouf Talukder, Joint Secretary of Finance Division, A. K. M. Fahim Mashroor, former President of BASIS, Mr. Shah Imraul Kaeesh, Treasurer of BASIS and Director of BITM delivered speech in the program. Beside this, Mr. Uttam Kumar Paul, Secretary General of BASIS, Syed Almas Kabir, former Senior Vice President of BASIS and Chief Advisor of BITM and Mr. Sami Ahmed, Executive Director of BASIS were also present in the program.
BASIS President mentioned that, economic development of our country is impossible without skilled manpower. “Skilled manpower is the main driver of the developed countries. Skill is essential for both personal development and overall development of the country. Skilled manpower attracts the foreign investors also. Creating skilled manpower is not possible at once in such an overpopulated country. So, we declared our vision of One Bangladesh emphasizing on creating skilled manpower”, added Mr. Shameem.
Creating one million IT professionals is one of the important pillars of the vision. This program is a part of that vision. After successful completion of the project, the IT companies will get skilled employee according to their need and more employment opportunities will be created for the IT professionals. And the journey of the ICT sector of the country will be enforced by all these initiatives.
Training labs will be established in the seven divisions of the country under this project, as stated in the program. Training will be started in Dhaka and Chittagong this year and in the rest of the five divisions after that. Five thousand trainees in the first year and nine thousand each in the next consecutive two years will be trained in different areas of IT sector and will be employed finally. The trainees will be provided training free of cost. In addition to that, they will be given Tk. 3100 monthly during the training period.
The details of this training program and application procedure have already been published in BASIS website (www.basis.org.bd) and BITM website (www.bitm.org.bd).register . The interested candidates will have to register themselves through these websites. The applicants will have to face written and viva exams in three steps to be selected finally for the training program. Only one trainee will be eligible to participate in any one particular subject under this project.
