Curtain offs of Dhaka Expo of Internet Week. The Dhaka Expo of the Bangladesh Internet Week has come to an end on Monday observing with good crowd, entertainment and enthusiasm. Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), ICT Division and Grameenphone organized the nationwide Bangladesh Internet Week, which is claimed as the largest internet literacy campaign in the world, at 487 Upazilas across the country and internet expos in three mega cities- Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet.
Earlier, on Saturday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the nationwide internet literacy programme from his residence, which was broadcasted simultaneously in Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.
She inaugurated the programme of five venues which were connected to the live broadcasting. On this inaugural moment, Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit presented as chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of Dhaka Expo at Banani field in the capital.
The discussion and sharing meeting on technology, Meet the Youth, was the main attraction of the Saturday night which was ended with the musical show of band ‘Shunno’(zero) and DJ party.
The three members of Bangladesh National Cricket team, Tamim Iqbal, Taskin Ahmed and Enamul Haque Bijoy brought extra light in the joy of the second day of the expo on Sunday.
The cricketers shared their experience of Internet with the crowd of the expo and reanimated the visitors to use safe internet. The hour-long sharing session with cricketers made buzzes to the youth crowd of the expo. Some visitors got chance to take selfie with the cricket celebrities.
When the crickets left the expo arena, ‘Legend of Bangla Music’ LRB Vocal Ayub Bacchu broke the silence of the night and kept the crowd rejoicing upto late night of Sunday.
On Monday, the closing day of the Dhaka Expo of Internet Week came to and ends with the Closing Session and musical show of band, Nemosis.
It’s should be mentionable, the participants of Dhaka Expo will celebrated the Internet Week with same range at Nanking bazaar in Rajshahi on September 9 and at the City Indoor Stadium in Sylhet on September 11 .
Besides, the week-long Bangladesh Internet Week is being celebrated through Digital Fair at 487 Upazila Digital Centres across the country from September 5 to 11.
As a part of the nation-wide internet literacy campaign, there have been happening around 50 workshops and seminars at different universities. The seminar calendar will be closed on September 11. There are different technology based issues like – Big Data; Career in ICT, Programming, and Freelancing got privileges in the sharing sessions hosted by renowned experts from Google and other technology giants in respective fields at national and international level.
On the sideline of those schedules, there have been telecasting seven ‘Policy Meeting’ at different media.
The nationwide internet literacy campaign will contributes to connect around one crore people as new internet users by next year which will cover more citizens in digital services and promote internet based entrepreneurship, according organizers.
