ATM Hamidul Hossain Tariq, Bir Bikrom, psc on ‘Diplomatic History of Liberation War – Account of a Freedom Fighter’ as part of the IGCC Guest Lecture Series, at 1700 hours on January 29, 2015 at the IGCC Auditorium, House 35, Road 24, Gulshan-I, Dhaka. H.E. Mr. A.K.M. Mozammel Huq. Minister for Liberation Affairs of Bangladesh has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest at the talk. All are cordially invited. Entry is free, no passes required.
Born in 1951, Major (Retd.) ATM Hamidul Hossain Tariq joined the Liberation War 1971 at the age of 19 when he was a student. A Valiant Freedom Fighter and Commander of No 7 Sector, Mr Tariq was awarded the gallantry award – Bir Bikrom.
During the final assault by the Allied Force (Freedom Fighters and Indian Army) in the Northern Sector of the then East Pakistan by 20 Mountain Division, under GOC Major General Lachman Singh Legh, his Freedom Fighter company was attached with 6 Guard Regiment under commanding officer Lt. Col. VK Datta and fought shoulder to shoulder against the enemy.
He served in Bangladesh Army up to 1998. After retirement, he joined in Padma Oil Co. (Former Burma Eastern). He is a famous writer, columnist & researcher of liberation war in Bangladesh. So far, he has written 35 books and received the Best Writer award on War of Liberation. He is also holding the post of Secretary, Culture and Literature of Gallantry Award Holder Foundation – 1971.
