The Network on Climate Change Bangladesh (NCC,B) has organized a Press briefing at National Press Club on the evaluation of LIMA outcomes (CoP 20) in perspective of Bagladeshi civil society.
Mizanur Rahman Bijoy of NCC,B moderated the meeting while Md. Shamsuddoha of CPRD and Mr. Jahangir Hasan Masum of CDP were present as the civil society representatives. Gazi Manjurul Alam of NCC,B presented the written statement in the press briefing.
The speakers said, ‘Lima call for climate action’ failed to uphold the rights of the vulnerable countries to climate change impacts. The conference will be treated as the historical defeat of the poor and vulnerable countries like Bangladesh.
The civil society stated ten points demands including urgent and drastic measure to limit the temperature raise below 2°C, to set an adaptation goal, to include loss and damage in the upcoming Paris agreement, a clear road map for climate financing, separate work program for climate migration and displacement and to include local adaptation planning in the NAP process.
The speakers also demand to the Bangladesh government for taking the immediate initiatives to find out the efficient strategy for effectively facing the challenge of Paris conference in next year.
