International Labour Organization pleased to say with the wonderful cooperation of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, and Dhaka and Chittagong Airport Authorities, data collection for profiling the returning migrant workers at both airports has been completed. Alongside, 150 In-depth Interview in Gazipur, Norsingdhi , Dhaka , Manik Gonj and Chittagong Districts have been completed too.
Please find attached an invitation letter and tentative agenda for a sharing meeting of the preliminary findings of the survey carried out by the Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies under the “Promoting Decent Work through Improved Migration Policy and its Application in Bangladesh” project.
This survey will be complemented by a parallel analysis of Bangladeshi labour market, which is currently going on to find out the in-demand skills and entrepreneurship opportunities in the local economy. Once this analysis is complete, it would help us see the gaps between the profile of the returning workers and the local labour market demand. We will be in touch as the overall all exercise is complete.
In the meantime, we will be delighted if a relevant staff from your organization could join us during the meeting to share preliminary findings of the profiling survey and discuss the findings and implications with us. A copy of data will be shared at the venue.
The meeting is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 01 June 2014. Registration will begin at 9:30 hrs and the meeting is expected to conclude by 13:00 hrs. The venue is the conference room on the Level 5 of the Probashi Kalyan Bhaban where the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment is housed.
