Bangladesh government’s National Eye Care (NEC), Orbis International, Bangladesh Neonatal Forum (BNF) and Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital (IIEI&H) are jointly organizing a seminar on Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), or newborns’ vision problem, at IIEI&H at Farmgate on November 10, 2014 (Monday) at 9:30am to 1:10pm.
President of Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Prof. Rajvardhan Azad will speak of the ROP situation in the region at the seminar. Professor and Chair of Pediatric Ophthalmology Division of University of Indonesia Prof. Rita S Sitorus will share with the ROP stakeholders the Indonesia’s ROP approach and experiences.
Orbis International’s Country Director for Bangladesh Dr. Munir Ahmed, Regional Program Director of Orbis Asia and Co-Chair of IAPB for South East Asia Dr. Abu Raihan, President of BNF Prof. Hosne Ara Begum, Line Director of National Eye Care and Director of National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital (NIO&H) Prof. Jalal Ahmed, and CEO of IIEI&H Dr. Michael Hall will also speak at the seminar.
ROP screening, interpretation and reporting; its treatment options for various stages, treatment outcomes, referral and follow up; and capacity building on ROP, and management of ROP services would be discussed.
