The implementation phase of MDGs is going to be ended in December of this year, 2015. From January 2016 will be started with new target for world leaders for implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a developing country, Bangladesh is also taking preparation to implement the SDGs as she played a very significant role in fulfilling the MDGs.
Similarly, it is hoped, Bangladesh will also take a good initiative to implement SDGs. Therefore, implementing SDGs is a very important issue for Bangladesh. ‘Ending Poverty’, the first target of SDGs, is a challenge for Bangladesh. In this situation, Youth School for Social Entrepreneurs (YSSE), has come up with an idea that to end poverty and implement this target, promoting the social entrepreneurship among the potential youth of Bangladesh can make a difference.
Considering the importance of awareness building among the youth, YSSE organized a national seminar on “Social Entrepreneurship as a Model to implement SDGs” on December 11, 2015 Time:9:15 AM at Hubdhaka, 9th Floor, Building No. 7, Road 3,Section 7, Pallavi, Dhaka 1216, Bangladesh.
In the Seminar, as a Key Note Speaker, Mr. Muhammad Mahdy Hassan, Associate Program Officer, Relief International (USA), presented a concept note on seminar topic. In addition, 4 bold and raising young voice from different sector of development area of Bangladesh who are playing a significant role in the society to nurture the young people took part in the discussion with their initiate idea to implement SDGs, namely Ms. Sushmita Choudhury, Human Rights program Specialist, Relief International, Ruhul Kader, an Entrepreneur, writer, and Editor of Future Startup, Abdullah Al Mahmud, the founder of ‘Zero to Infinity’ and Waliullah Bhuiyan, the Founder and CEO of Light of Hope. Other guests will also take part in the discussion. The seminar was participated by around 70 participant including students from different public and private universities, entrepreneurs and officials from different discipline.
The Youth School for Social Entrepreneurs (YSSE) is a youth led Non-government organization (NGO) working for youth development in Bangladesh. YSSE founded in February 2015 by a group of youth who creating an impact in youth community by providing necessary skills to be a social entrepreneur.
YSSE is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh, currently working with 13 countries around the world. The purpose of YSSE is to promote social entrepreneurship and to foster youth as social entrepreneurs due to create positive social and environmental changes through their societal innovative idea and action. YSSE focuses on youth and provide them different skills to grow up with a sustainable mindset, which help them in self-development and how a youth mind can create a great impact in community.
