The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu organized a four day Bangladesh-Nepal Expo 2015 from 11-15 February 2015. The Expo consisted of a trade fair which was participated by around 80 business organizations from Bangladesh representing various sectors such as Pharmaceuticals, Ready Made Garments, Handicrafts, Frozen Sea Foods, Ceramic products, Textiles, Food & Beverage, Cosmetics, Herbal products, Information Technology Firms, Education institutions, Medical colleges, hospitality sector, Publishers, etc. and 20 organizations from Nepal.
The Expo also included a food festival showcasing Bangladeshi traditional food items including Biryani and various types of Pitha. The Expo concluded with a Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Concert where a number of singers and bands from the two countries participated. The main attraction of the concert was a performance by Nagar Baul James.
The Expo was inaugurated by H.E. the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal Ms. Mashfee Binte Shams. The Minister for Commerce and Supplies of Nepal Mr. Sunil Bahadur Thapa was the Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony. Both of them called upon the business communities of the two countries to explore the immense potential for expanding trade and business relations between Bangladesh and Nepal for mutual benefit.
Around 10,000 people visited the Expo which was widely acclaimed by the participants and the visitors alike for being the first initiative of its kind organsied by the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu.
The Expo was co-orgnaised by Synthesis, Nepal and Wren Networking, Bangladesh; and the Concert was co-organised by Moods Media and Events PVt. Ltd. Nepal and eMakers, Bangladesh. The events of the Expo and the Concert were live telecasted in Bangladesh and Nepal by SATV and Himalaya TV respectively.
