Bangladesh has received the full membership of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) with the singing of accession document by Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali today in Shanghai, China. Mahmud Ali left Dhaka last night to attend this conference. He leads Bangladesh delegation.
All 25 members has ‘unanimously’ decided to accept Bangladesh as a ‘full member’ of CICA. The membership has been formalised today and the summit will begin tomorrow in
CICA pursues multilateral cooperation in the fields of peace, security and stability in Asia. It can also facilitate trade expansion among the member states, particularly with Central Asian countries. Bangladesh would try to promote trade and investment relations with the CICA member states. Bangladesh, which had been an observer of the forum since 2010, would use it to project the country.
