Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), Dhaka in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh is organising An Evening of “Nazrul Sangeet” by eminent Nazrul Sangeet artist Dr. Pradip Kumar Nandi, at 6:30 PM on May 24, 2014 at IGCC, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1, Dhaka.
Dr. Pradip Kumar Nandi was baptized in music in his early childhood by his grandmother Monohora Nandi, and encouraged to pursue his musical talent by his parents, Gopal Krishna Nandi and Kanan Bala Nandi. Mr. Nandi’s devotion and love for Nazrul songs enabled him to complete his Master’s degree in Music with specialization in Nazrul Sangeet from the Department of Music, University of Dhaka with distinction (first class first) in 2000. He has completed a four-year certificate course in Nazrul Sangeet from Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA). He has also been a student of Chhayanaut. Mr. Nandi has also completed his PhD on “Nazrul-er Gaan:Shurokar Proshongo” from Rajshahi University. He was the gold medalist in classical music category in the National Education Week in the years 1997 and 1998. He has trained in music under the prominent singers from Bangladesh and abroad such as Mr. Sudhin Das, Ms. Nilufar Yasmin, Mr. Khairul Anam Shakil, Mr. Khalid Hossain and Shri Biman Mukhopadhyay.
Mr. Nandiis a regular performer and enlisted artist of Bangladesh TV and Radio, as also for private television channels. He has released 2 Solo Albums and 2 books on Nazrul, the first being “Mridubhashini” by Laser Vision, Dhaka. Mr. Nandi is the Head of the Department of Music at the Shanto Marium University of Creative Technology in Dhaka and also a part-time teacher of Nazrul Sangeet at Government Music College, Agargaon and Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts.
