A whopping total of 2,500 job-seekers out of a grand total of 35,000 aspirants are getting their much-needed jobs from the BDjobs Job Fair in Chattogram. The fair was held on Thursday (January 19) at the port city’s GEC Convention Centre from 9am to 4pm. Graduates from both technical and general fields applied for their jobs in the fair.

BDJobs Chief Executive Officer (CEO) AKM Fahim Mashroor said the country’s top 70 employers are choosing their desired employees from the collected CVs and applications.

He claimed to have received incredible response from the fair. This is the first-time online test has been organized on the spot. Through this scheme, the employers have been able to inform the results of the examination directly during the fair. It is an additional opportunity added to the fair.

BDjobs.com Marketing Director Prokash Roy Chowdhury said technical job fairs and career fairs for general graduates were used to be organized separately earlier. But this is the first time that both the fairs have been organized together. We have been able to match the employers with local technical job seekers and general graduate job seekers in Chattogram.

Meanwhile, thousands of job seekers thronged the GEC Convention Center from 8 am. More than 35,000 job seekers participated in the fair premises from the start of the fair at 9am till 4pm.

Ayesha Siddika, who is studying MBA at Haji Mohammad Mohsin College, is excited to find employers from the country’s top organisations in her hometown.

She said, such a fair in Chattogram is very beneficial for us – especially for the girls. It is difficult to go to Dhaka to apply for a job or attend an interview. “We have benefited a lot from having the opportunity to receive on-spot CVs and give job interviews in Chattogram thanks to BdJobs.”

Two friends Sohanur Rahman and Akalima Akhtar, both of whom applied for jobs, had same opinion.

They said that they do not get accurate information in time about many job offers in Dhaka and Chattogram as their house is a little away from Chattogram city. We made plan to apply by looking at the BDjobs Job Fair information online. I have submitted CV to 10 companies from the fair. Thanks to the authorities for such an arrangement.
