Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) of ICT Division of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh is going to organize a job fair in the capital Dhaka with the aim of providing employment to specially-abled persons or for the person with disabilities. Since 2015, this fair has been organized under the initiative of the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) of the ICT Division. The fair is being organized in collaboration with the Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID).
On February 10, 2024, Saturday morning, the day-long fair will be organized at the office building of the NGO Affairs Bureau in Agargaon, Dhaka. The state minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP will inaugurate the job fair 2024 as the chief guest.
Online and email applications have already been collected from interested job aspirants. Approximately 500 applications have already been received. Among them, computer-trained and skilled job aspirants are being called to come to the job fair. The organizing authority is expecting that it will be possible to give jobs to around 50 people through the fair. Also, more than 200 job candidates will be shortlisted for interview for subsequent recruitment who will be arranged for employment in a phased manner.
The Coordinator of Job Fair 2024 and Manager (Systems) of BCC Mr. Golam Rabbani said that since 2011 free ICT training for persons with disabilities has been started through BCC. Job fairs have been organized since 2015 with the participation of jobseekers and employers for the employment of persons with disabilities who have received ICT training. So far more than 900 ICT skilled persons with disabilities have been provided employment through job fairs.
It should be mentioned that ICT-based institutions belonging to different trade bodies or associations are participating in the fair. Organizations dealing with information technology in the country usually provide jobs for the person with disabilities at the fair. Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), and Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO) member ICT-based organizations are notable among these.
