Bartaman Patrika is an Indian Bengali daily newspaper published from Kolkata, West Bengal, India by Bartaman Pvt. Ltd. This newspaper was founded in December, 1984 by Barun Sengupta. He is a former Anandabazar Patrika’s journalist. Mr. Sengupta died on 19 June 2008 in Kolkata.

Since April 2002, Bartaman Patrika published an online version. Nowadays its circulation about 4 lac. Apart from the Kolkata edition, this newspaper has four other simultaneous editions. Daily Bartaman published daily from four major towns of West Bengal. These are Siliguri, Burdwan, Malda and Midnapore.

Daily Bartaman is the second-most widely read Bengali newspaper in India after Anandabazar Patrika. Near about 4 Crors of population read Bartaman. It is also popular in Bangladeshi people and media person. Bartaman also published a weekly magazine.

Bartaman’s main competitor is Anandabazar Patrika which is published since 1922. Bartaman holds second position after Anandabazar Patrika in WestBengal, by readership and circulation. It’s daily circulation is roughly about 40 percent of Anandabazar Patrika.

Very interesting matter, Bartaman patrikas slowgan is ‘Bartaman fears nobody except God.’ West Bengali’s also trust that Bartaman’s information is 100 percent Correct and authentic. That’s why maximum reader think that Bartaman is the famous Bengali newspaper in India.
