Jomhouri-e-Eslami was established on 30 May, 1979. It is the official newspaper of an Iranian political party, Islamic Republic Party. The founding managing director was Ali Khamenei and editor in chief was Mir Hossein Mousavi. Its current managing Director is Messiah.  It is now run under authority of Institute of Cultural and Press Affairs of the Jomhuri Eslami.

The newspaper is believed to be very hardliner, and keeps close connection to the Supreme Leader. The paper maintains ideology of Khomeini. It takes radical and conservative position on political, religious and foreign policy issues.

The newspaper faced several pressure from the government. Islamic Republic Party was banned, however Jomhuri-e-Eslami continued its publications. The media is said to change its stance . From 2013, the paper was mentioned as close to another political figure “Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani”.

It is morning daily newspaper carrying political and social news of Iran. It also publishes news on sports, culture, city affairs, war etc.

From June, 2009 Jomhouri-e-Eslami started its online edition and is on till now.

Jomhouri-e-Eslami is not found very active in social media. However it updates their post in Telegram, the Iranian social media regularly.
