The Government has decided to appoint Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed, currently serving as our Ambassador in Bhutan as the new Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Portuguese Republic.

A career diplomat, Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed belongs to the 1984 batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre. Besides his Ambassadorial appointments in Sweden, Nepal and Bhutan, in his distinguished diplomatic career he served in Bangladesh Embassies in Rome, Cairo, Kuala Lampur and Washington D.C. in various capacities.

Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed obtained a B.SC (Hons) and an M.SC in Geology from Dhaka University. He also obtained a diploma in French Language from Audio-visual Centre for Modern Language (CAVILAM), Vichy and DESS Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from International Institute for Public Administration (IIAP), Paris, France.

He is married and has a daughter.
