OIC Secretary General arrives in Dhaka. The Secretary General of OIC Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen arrives in Dhaka 2 August night on a four day visit. Kamrul Ahsan, Secretary (Bi-lateral and Consular) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs received him at the airport.

​The Secretary General is leading a five-member delegation. This happens to be his first visit to Bangladesh since assuming charge as the Secretary General of OIC.

​During the visit the Secretary General Othaimeen is expected to call on Foreign Minister A H Mahmood Ali and Bangladesh leadership on Thursday. The visit gives the Secretary General an opportunity to familiarise himself with Bangladesh, a country playing increasingly important role in OIC. It would also give him the opportunity to seek views and suggestions of Bangladesh leadership on various OIC issues and matters of importance to the Muslim Ummah and the Islamic world.

​Bangladesh is going to host the 45th OIC Council of Foreign Ministers next year, this visit will allow discussion on Bangladesh-OIC Secretariat cooperation for that.
