The Fars News Agency is an Iranian news agency providing news on politics, defense, society & culture, science & technology of home and abroad. Though the authority claims that it is Iran’s leading independent news agency, it is widely said by other media that Fars is “semi-official” news agency of the Government of Iran. It was founded in 2003.

The Tehran based news agency is published in Persian and English. But their official languages are Persian, English, Arabic and Turkish.

The Editor in Chief is Morteza Ghamari Vafa while Seyed Nezamozddin Musavi holds the post of Managing Director.
